MARIE HALLIDAY
Marie is a producer, writer, and founder of Curious Witch Films. Over the past 15+ years, she has produced films and series for HBO, Netflix, Lifetime, Hallmark, and more, including Pineapple (2017), which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival, and The Great Lillian Hall (2024), starring Jessica Lange, Kathy Bates, and Pierce Brosnan for HBO/Max. Before launching her company, she held roles at HBO Films, Adaptive Studios, MarVista Entertainment, and Crazy Legs Features, overseeing development and production across wide-ranging slates of film, television, digital series, and publishing projects.

Over time, Marie became increasingly interested in the psychological and creative dynamics that shape the development process itself. She believes the true joy of development comes from a return to play - digging into the emotional and thematic core of a story, exploring the “why” behind creative choices, and finding imaginative ways to collaborate with artists that move beyond rigid industry formulas. This philosophy became a foundational part of Curious Witch Films, where creative rigor and curiosity exist side by side.

In addition to producing, Marie is a writer of screenplays, short stories, and poetry, often exploring themes of identity, intimacy, and the messy magic of being human. A graduate of Columbia College Chicago’s MFA program, she later returned to teach in the school’s Semester in LA program, mentoring emerging filmmakers. She is also passionate about mental health advocacy and has been a volunteer Crisis Counselor for the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline since 2020.

When she’s not working, Marie surrounds herself with the things that keep her grounded and inspired. She believes in keeping life as full as her scripts - part family, part art, part magic, part chaos...and always a plot twist or two.
